State Fair Too Much For Pirate's Softball On The Road

Softball came up short on the road against State Fair CC in a Region 16 doubleheader on April 2nd.  They fell by the scores of 10-3 and 10-9 which brings their overall record to 9-23 and their region mark to 5-7.  Their next action will be a home twin bill on Thursday against Metropolitan CC.

 

GAME 1:

North Central Missouri College dropped a 10-3 decision to State Fair Community College despite several solid individual efforts at the plate.

 

The Pirates recorded seven hits in the game, led by Ella Barnett, who turned in a strong performance going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kaylor Hodge also contributed offensively, finishing 1-for-4 and driving in a run, while Alex Endicott, Skylar Sunderland, Katie Pierson, and Cora Thompson each added a hit.

 

NCMC manufactured its three runs behind RBI from Barnett and Hodge, with Ireland Bloss crossing the plate as well. The Pirates showed patience at the plate with three walks, including one each from Endicott, Sunderland, and Chariss Barnard.

 

In the circle, Skylar Sunderland worked five innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out two. Myla Laws added an inning of relief.

 

Defensively, the Pirates battled but were hampered by three errors, while State Fair capitalized with 16 hits, including two home runs.

 

Game 2:

NCMC put together a strong offensive performance, but ultimately came up just short in a 10-9 loss to State Fair in the finale.

 

The Pirates racked up 13 hits, highlighted by a standout performance from Alex Endicott. The sophomore outfielder went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, and a home run, setting the tone at the top of the lineup. Ireland Bloss also delivered a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI.

 

Kaylor Hodge added two hits, while Chariss Barnard and Cora Thompson each contributed doubles as part of the Pirates' extra-base hit production. Trinity Alderman drove in two runs, and Katie Pierson and Thompson each added an RBI to round out the scoring.

 

NCMC jumped out early behind its power at the plate, but State Fair answered in the middle innings. Emma Lisenbee started in the circle, striking out four over 3.1 innings, while Bloss came on in relief and added two strikeouts across three innings of work.

 

Despite the loss, the Pirates' offense showed depth throughout the lineup, producing nine runs and multiple extra-base hits as they continued to apply pressure from start to finish.
