North Central Missouri College softball wrapped up a busy six-game stretch from April 21–26 with a challenging run of Region 16 play, facing a mix of high-powered offenses and deep pitching staffs. Across the six contests, the Pirates showed flashes of offensive production but were unable to consistently string together innings, ultimately dropping all six matchups during the span. Their overall record now sits at 10-36.
The week opened on April 21 with a doubleheader at Crowder College, where NCMC struggled to generate sustained offense in 9-0 and 11-3 setbacks. Despite the results, the Pirates found some production in the later innings of the second game, pushing across three runs and showing improved plate discipline against a tough Crowder pitching staff.
Midweek and weekend action continued to test the Pirates, as they faced additional Region 16 opponents in a four-game stretch. NCMC battled throughout, with several players contributing multi-hit efforts and run production, but defensive miscues and big innings from opposing lineups proved costly. The Pirates were competitive early in multiple games, keeping things within reach before opponents used late-inning rallies to extend leads.
Offensively, NCMC saw contributions throughout the lineup during the six-game stretch, with timely hits and aggressive baserunning providing scoring opportunities. However, the Pirates were unable to consistently capitalize with runners in scoring position, which limited their ability to swing momentum. In the circle, NCMC pitchers logged valuable innings against strong competition, showing resilience despite facing high-volume offensive pressure.
While the results did not fall in their favor, the Pirates gained valuable experience and will look to build on the positives as they move forward in the final stretch of the season. They have one Region 16 doubleheader left of the schedule against Metropolitan CC Thursday plus their final home action against Marshalltown CC on Monday, May 4th.
