Softball took a pair of heartbreaking road losses to MSU-West Plains to fall to 9-27 overall and 5-11 in Region 16 play.
Game 1:
North Central Missouri College lost the opener to MSU-West Plains 4-3. They put together a competitive effort at the plate with nine hits, led by a strong showing from Reghan Loges, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored, while Myla Laws added a 2-for-2 performance with an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Ireland Bloss and Kaylor Hodge each crossed the plate once, with Hodge driving in a run, and Katie Pierson also contributed an RBI on her lone hit of the day. In the circle, Emma Lisenbee delivered a solid start, working 6.0 innings while allowing just two runs and striking out four to keep the Pirates in control for much of the contest. Despite the balanced offensive attack and steady pitching performance, North Central was unable to hold off a late push from West Plains, allowing 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th for a walk-off loss.
Game 2:
NCMC put together a strong offensive performance but ultimately fell just short in a 10-9 battle in the back end of the doubleheader. The Pirates racked up 11 hits, led by Alex Endicott's 2-for-5 day with three runs scored and an RBI, while Ireland Bloss delivered a big performance with two hits and a team-high three RBIs. Trinity Alderman added a pair of hits and an RBI, and Cora Thompson contributed across the board with a double, two runs scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases. Katie Pierson also chipped in with a hit, an RBI, and two steals as NCMC applied constant pressure on the bases. In the circle, Skylar Sunderland and Bloss combined for five strikeouts, with Bloss providing 4.0 innings of relief, but early runs by West Plains proved to be the difference despite the Pirates' late push.
