The NCMC men's basketball team battled throughout but came up short in a 78–70 setback at Jefferson College on Saturday. The Pirates were without leading scorer Camden Bennett due to an ankle injury and their offensive output was not quite up to season averages. The team is now 14-5 with their next game coming at home on Saturday against St. Louis CC.
James Porter III led the Pirates with a dominant performance, pouring in a game-high 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Camden Brown chipped in 15 points and went 7-of-8 at the free throw line, while Deng Gak contributed nine points and six rebounds in limited minutes. Kalen Streit added six points, four assists, two steals and a block, and Grant Redd filled the stat sheet with four points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Off the bench, Talan Holt provided four points and three rebounds as the Pirates finished with 27 rebounds and 16 assists as a team.
