15th ranked NCMC men's basketball picked up a hard-fought 76–64 victory over Allen County at home on Wednesday night, powered by consistent scoring from its starting group and key contributions off the bench. The Pirates are now 9-2 with their next action coming on Friday night when they tangle with Neosho County CC as part of the NCMC Classic. The game will follow the Lady Pirates action at 3:00pm and a matchup of Fort Scott CC vs. Spoon River College. The tentative start time for the Pirates is 7:00pm.
Sophomore Camden Bennett delivered another outstanding performance, pouring in 25 points while attacking the basket relentlessly. Bennett went an impressive 14-of-15 at the free-throw line, helping NCMC maintain control in the second half. He is now averaging 24.5 points per game, tops for the Pirates and 5th best in the nation.
Fellow starter Camden Brown added 12 points, knocking down a three and hitting timely shots that steadied the Pirates' offense. Grant Redd continued his efficient play with 8 points, 3 rebounds, and a pair of steals.
Inside, NCMC received major production from its frontcourt. James Porter III recorded a powerful 11-rebound night to go with 7 points, anchoring the Pirates on the glass. Deng Gak was perfect from the field (3-for-3), finishing with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
The bench provided an extra lift as well. Za'Corrie Kerr posted 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Talan Holt and Kalen Streit added valuable minutes and energy.
As a team, the Pirates outrebounded the Red Devils 38–37, shot 77.4% from the free-throw line, and held Allen County to under 39% shooting.
