Pirates Handle Spoon River Behind Balanced, Efficient Offensive Showing

Men's basketball went on the road Tuesday and downed Spoon River College 81-64 to improve to 2-2 early in the season.  Next up is a pair of games in the Kansas City Kansas HOF Classic this coming weekend.

 

NCMC 81, Spoon River 64

North Central Missouri College put together one of its most complete offensive efforts of the season, rolling past Spoon River College 81–64 behind a balanced scoring attack and standout efficiency across the roster.

 

Camden Bennett led the way with 21 points, attacking the basket throughout the night and going 8-of-10 at the free-throw line while adding seven rebounds and two assists. Fellow guard Camden Brown delivered 18 points, knocking down both of his three-point attempts and finishing 6-of-7 at the stripe.

 

Inside, the Pirates dominated the glass and the paint. Deng Gak posted 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, consistently controlling the boards and providing second-chance opportunities. James Porter III added six points and six rebounds, giving NCMC another steady interior presence.

 

Point guard Grant Redd orchestrated the offense with four assists, scoring nine points and hitting a key three while going a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. The bench also provided a spark, highlighted by Jon Jon Neff's six points on a flawless shooting night and Talan Holt's five points, including a three.

 

The Pirates shot an impressive 48% from the field, 50% from three, and 84% at the line, finishing with 15 assists on 24 made field goals. Defensively, NCMC forced 16 Spoon River turnovers and tallied 11 steals.
