Baseball Sweeps Redlands, Drops Pair To Iowa Central

Baseball swept Redlands CC on Saturday to pull their early season record to 5-5 before a home opening doubleheader against powerhouse Iowa Central CC on Monday. The Tritons got the best of NCMC in that doubleheader.

 

Game 1:

NCMC used a powerful offensive performance to secure a 9–7 win over Redlands, racking up 12 hits and four home runs in the game. Jeann Pierre (JP) Gonzalez led the charge with a huge game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Javier Suarez also homered and finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Koby Wagers added a solo homer as part of a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI. Jose Bedoya had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Leonel Dominguez reached base three times with a hit and two walks while scoring twice and stealing a base. On the mound, Jorge Jimenez picked up the win in relief with two strong innings, and Eduardo Chourio closed the door in the seventh to earn his second save of the season after Luis Leon started the contest for the Pirates.

 

Game 2:

The Pirates powered their way to a 9-4 win in game two behind a dominant offensive performance that featured 14 hits. Javier Suarez led the Pirates at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Eduardo Chourio had a perfect day at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Power at the bottom of the order helped fuel the scoring as Leonel Dominguez, Ethan Shupe, and Jose Bedoya each launched home runs, with Bedoya driving in a team-high three runs and scoring twice. Shupe added two hits, including a double and homer, and scored twice, while Cade Fallert and Alejandro Somaza also crossed the plate to round out the balanced attack. On the mound, Koby Wagers earned the win with six strong innings, striking out six while allowing three runs, and Gabriel DeFily closed the game in relief as the Pirates secured the victory.

 

Game 3:

The North Central Missouri College Pirates were held in check offensively in an 18–0 loss to Iowa Central on Monday, managing just two hits in the contest. Javier Suarez and Jeann Pierre (JP) Gonzalez accounted for the Pirates' only hits, while the NCMC lineup battled against a strong outing from Iowa Central starter Chase Reeder, who struck out six over five innings. Amaury Cienfuegos took the loss on the mound for the Pirates, with Logan Arbuckle and Matthew Miller also seeing time in relief. Despite the setback, the Pirates continued to compete throughout the lineup.

 

Game 4:

The Pirates battled offensively but fell 7–4 to Iowa Central despite several strong performances at the plate. Jeann Pierre "JP" Gonzalez led the Pirates with a two-hit day, scoring a run and adding a stolen base, while Eduardo Chourio delivered a key hit that drove in two runs. Koby Wagers provided the biggest swing for NCMC, launching a two-run home run and finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Ismael Medina and Gabriel DeFily each reached base multiple times via walks and came around to score as the Pirates drew six free passes in the contest. On the mound, Jorge Jimenez struck out nine over four innings in the start, and Max Wagers added four strikeouts in three innings of relief as NCMC pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts in the game.
