Pirate's baseball got their fall exhibition season off to a nice start over the weekend. They won both games at the UCM JUCO Jamboree, taking down State Fair CC 7-2 before downing Fort Scott CC 6-4. On Sunday, the Pirates got off to a slow start against Truman State and dropped the opener 8-2 before rebounding for a 5-3 victory over the Bulldogs in game two. Their next action will be a home doubleheader with Calvary University on Thursday, Sept. 11th. First pitch is set for 1:00pm at Burleigh Grimes Field.
NCMC vs. State Fair CC: The NCMC Pirates opened their fall season with a strong 7-2 road win over State Fair CC on Friday at the UCM Juco Jamboree. Javier Suarez led the Pirates' offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Gabriel DeFily added a double and drove in a run. Trent Lewallen chipped in two RBIs to help fuel the attack. On the mound, seven different Pirate pitchers combined to allow just four hits and one earned run while striking out eight.
NCMC vs. Fort Scott CC: The NCMC Pirates used a big sixth inning to pull away for a 6-4 win over Fort Scott on Friday. Chase Maddox delivered a huge game with two hits, including a home run and three RBI, while Ismael Medina also homered and drove in three. Suarez chipped in two hits and an RBI to help fuel the offense. On the mound, the Pirates got strong relief work from Jonah Sparks, Koby Wagers, and Isaiah Simon, who combined to hold Fort Scott to just two runs over their three innings.
NCMC vs. Truman State University Game One: The NCMC Pirates Fall dropped an 8-2 road contest to Truman State on Sunday despite collecting seven hits. JP Gonzalez sparked the offense with a hit, a stolen base, and a run scored, while Jose Bedoya added an RBI single and a run. Ethan Shupe chipped in with a pair of hits, and DeFily drove in a run. On the mound, Koby Wagers struck out three in a scoreless inning of relief to highlight the pitching staff.

Frandie Fernandez powered the lineup with a solo home run, while Eduardo Chourio added two hits, including a double, and Brayson Weston chipped in a pair of RBI singles. Trent Lewallen also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. On the mound, Hayden Cox earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief, and Hagen McMahon struck out three in a shutdown sixth inning to help secure the victory.
