Lady Pirates Improve To 4-0 In Region Play With Sophomore Day Win

Women's basketball took care of business on Sophomore Day with a 78–61 victory over Jefferson College on Saturday. The win improves the team's record to 17-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in Region 16 play.

 

Honor Mannings led the Lady Pirates with a game-high 23 points, shooting an efficient 10-of-16 from the field while adding three rebounds and two assists. Liz Oliver followed with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

 

NCMC stretched the floor effectively, knocking down 11 three-pointers, with Peyton Johnson providing a spark off the bench by hitting 4-of-12 from beyond the arc for 12 points. Sidney Aeschliman added nine points, including three three-pointers, while Laney Uchtman chipped in nine points in reserve minutes.

 

The Lady Pirates also dominated on the boards, outrebounding Jefferson 50–40, with Tailer Morrison pulling down eight rebounds in just 15 minutes. Keylie Beane contributed defensively with three steals and four assists as NCMC forced 16 turnovers on the night.

 

North Central shot 41.8 percent from the field and held Jefferson to under 30 percent shooting, pulling away in the second half to secure the win.

 

Sophomores honored in a men's game halftime celebration were Sidney Aeschliman, Keylie Beane, Honor Mannings, Talicia Byrd and Tailer Morrison.
