The North Central Missouri College men's golf team traveled to Indianola, Iowa, on Wednesday to compete in the Simpson Fall Invitational held at Indianola Country Club. The Pirates' A Team finished eighth out of 15 teams after posting a team score of 306.
Dylan Groomer and Jorge Gomez each earned a Top 10 finish after firing matching rounds of 73. Alvaro Alegria and Landon Biermann both carded scores of 80, while Dylan Groomer rounded out the team scoring with an 81.
The NCMC B Team had a strong showing as well, finishing just one stroke behind the A Team with a team total of 307 to place ninth overall. Guillermo Gomez, coming off an illness, led the way with an impressive even-par round of 71 that included three birdies, earning him a Top 5 finish and a medal. Grant Leamer and Lucas Viertaler turned in solid rounds of 77 and 78, respectively, followed by Lucas Schussler with an 81 and Zander Coffman with an 87.
The Pirates also had three individuals competing. Andrew Phipps led that group with a round of 81, while Elijah Grote recorded a collegiate-low 85 and Riley Gott finished with an 88.
Next up, the Pirates will hold an intrasquad Match Play tournament to determine lineup spots for their fall finale. NCMC will conclude its fall schedule at the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational hosted by Park University on October 13–14. Monday's round will be played at The National Golf Club of Kansas City, with Tuesday's final round taking place at The Bluffs Golf Club in Parkville, Missouri.
