Pirates Fall Short Against Highly Ranked Johnson County CC

North Central Missouri College men's basketball was led by a strong interior performance from Deng Gak and James Porter III, but the Pirates were unable to keep pace in an 82–60 setback to 3rd ranked Johnson County Community College on Wednesday.

Gak posted a double-double to pace NCMC, finishing with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting while adding 11 rebounds, three three-pointers and two assists. Porter III also delivered a productive night, scoring 20 points and pulling down seven rebounds while going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line.

Camden Brown contributed across the stat sheet with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Talan Holt provided a spark off the bench with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Pirates collected 38 rebounds and shot 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

NCMC will look to regroup and build on the production of its core as it takes on Link Year Prep on Saturday, Jan. 10th.  The Pirates are 12-4 overall heading into that game.
