December 19, 2017 (Trenton, MO) – NCMC Pirates Golf Coach Craig Sager has received a commitment from Trenton High School's Lathan Croy to join the program for the 2018-19 season. "Adding Lathan to our roster is big. I'm counting on him to continue his improved play over the course of his senior season and have a nice run at the state tournament," commented Coach Sager
Anyone who follows Bulldog Athletics or the Grand River Conference knows that Lathan is an athlete. On the football field, Croy received 2nd Team All-Conference awards at the quarterback position as a junior and senior and at the linebacker position as a junior. In addition to his conference honors, he has also received AP All District All Purpose Back (2016, 2017), All New Press 3rd Team LB (2016), MFCA All District Quarterback (2017), KMZU Dream Team (2017), THS Outstanding Junior (2016), and THS MR Football (2017).
On the golf course, Croy has received All-District (2016, 2017) and All-State (2017 – 14th) accolades. This spring will give him an opportunity to add to his accomplishments. "He's going to be a great addition their team. Lathan's swing can shorten a golf course and his course management skills have dramatically improved. I'm proud of his accomplishments and look forward to having him one more year before he jumps to the college level. I think he's going to enjoy it and he has a real opportunity to succeed," commented THS Golf Coach Travis Mullenix
In addition to his athletic achievements, Lathan is a member of the National Honor Society and FBLA. He is also on the A Honor Roll. "We've made an effort to attract well-rounded student-athletes to our program. Lathan is a prime example of what that looks like as he could have chosen to do just about anything, anywhere. He (Croy) is an athlete and loves to compete at high levels. His drive and work ethic will suit him well at the college level. He knows a lot of the guys on our current roster and will fit in nicely with what we're building here. I couldn't be happier than to know that he chose our program to continue his athletic career," added Coach Sager.
