Maddison Book is a sophomore guard for Lady Pirates Basketball. During her freshman year, the St. Joseph, MO native averaged 7.1 points per game on 38.3% shooting. She will be looked to for leadership on this year’s team having started 31 games as a freshman for Coach Croy.
In her free time, you’ll usually find her getting in extra shooting practice on the court, hitting the weight room, doing homework or hanging out with friends. In this regard, she is much like all the student athletes at NCMC. However, one interesting fact about Maddie is that she loves to run. In high school, she’d routinely run 3-5 miles a day for fun. While she doesn’t do that as often anymore because of all the conditioning with basketball practice, she still uses running a stress reliever.
After completing her two years at NCMC, Maddie hopes to continue her playing career and education at Northwest Missouri State University. “They have an excellent basketball program plus specialize in my major, Elementary Education. It would be a perfect fit,” commented Book. Her dream job is to be an elementary physical education teacher.
Maddie’s choice of North Central Missouri College to start her college education was an easy one. “After I visited I loved the environment on campus and all the support here. This isn’t something you find at all colleges. I actually cancelled the rest of my college visits after coming to campus and meeting everyone.” Make sure to get out to support Maddie and all of her teammates in the 2018-19 season.
